TECH WOMEN FALL TO HUNGARY

Virginia Tech shot only 27 percent from the field Wednesday night in losing a women's basketball exhibition game against Hungary 65-59 in Cassell Coliseum.

Michelle Hollister led the Hokies with 13 points but made only five of 16 shots. Lynette Nolley of Floyd County was 3-of-15, Sherry Banks of William Byrd was 3-of-13 and Katie O'Connor went 2-of-10 from the floor.

Terri Garland of Pulaski County had 10 rebounds for the Hokies, and Nolley and Banks contributed 10 points each.

Despite its poor shooting performance, Tech led Hungary 33-29 at halftime. The Hokies were especially cold in the second half, making only seven of 32 field-goal attempts (22 percent).

The Hungarians shot 47 percent for the game. Eva Seres and Timea Beres had 14 points each for the visitors.
