COLLEGE NOTES

VIRGINIA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE has announced the names of the following Roanoke-area students named to its president's list.

Those from Roanoke are: Lori L. Durso, Joel S. Elkins, Christina C. England, Gregory S. Hawthorne, Eileen P. Houston, Carissa W. Mendez, Linda T. Saunders and Adam M. Williams.

From Salem: Robin M. Allen, Carolyn F. Hackney and Tanya G. Hatchett.

To be named to the president's list, a student must earn a 3.5 or better grade point average.

The following Roanoke-area students were named to dean's list: John C. Ross and Rebecca F. Wood, both from Roanoke; Jamey B. Brads, Blue Ridge; Melinda M. Kingery, Buchanan.

WENDELL K. SCOTT of BellSouth Communication Systems of Roanoke recently graduated from Duke University's weekend executive MBA program.

The weekend program is designed for middle- to upper-level managers who attend classes on Friday and Saturday of alternate weekends for 20 months.

KELLY DIERKER, daughter of Judith and Richard Dierker of Roanoke, has been named a Student Government Association senator at Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, N.C. Dierker is a English and business administration major.

VALERIE M. GLYNN, daughter of Curtis and Helen Glynn of Vinton, was among 34 freshman selected for the Saint Francis College of Pennsylvania Honors Program. Glynn is a business major.
