BLUE HILLS PRO CLOSES IN ON SENIOR TOUR CARD

Roanoker Billy King moved closer Thursday to earning a spot on the 1996 Senior PGA Tour.

The longtime Blue Hills Golf Club head professional shot a 4-over-par 76 in Thursday's third round of a 72-hole regional qualifier at Woodlake Country Club in San Antonio.

King's total of 4-over-par 220 puts him fifth in the field through 54 holes. The low 19 players earn berths in the Senior Tour's Final Qualifying School, scheduled in two weeks in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Skip Pratt leads the qualifier at even-par 216.

The low eight players in the Final Qualifying School earn full tour cards for the 1996 Senior PGA season. The next low eight players are awarded partial exemptions for '96.
