ROANOKER CHARGED WITH ROBBING STORE

Roanoke police have charged a 42-year-old Northwest Roanoke man with the Tuesday night robbery of a convenience store.

Danillo Garcia Mesquita of Dunbar Street, who was arrested Wednesday afternoon, remained in custody Friday night at the Roanoke City Jail.

Police said a man walked into the Save-X Mini Mart on Williamson Road at 9:46 p.m. and asked a clerk to help him find an item.

As the clerk approached, the man grabbed her around the neck and held an object to her back. He then demanded money and threatened to shoot the clerk, police said.
