Kay Miller calls VacationSouth the answer to what she said is a shortage of travel information tailored to the Southeast.

Since launching the quarterly newsletter in the spring, she has told the origins of the Moon Pie at a Tennessee bakery, suggested a driving tour of Richmond and given readers directions to spots in Virginia important in the life of Pocahontas. She has written on North Carolina wineries, Sanibel Island, Fla., and an exhibit about the black upper class at the Atlanta History Center. A story is planned on Roanoke Valley attractions.

Miller was spokeswoman for Duke University's medical center from 1979 to 1992 and lifestyle editor at the Winston-Salem Journal 1976 to 1979. She has written articles for the magazines of British Airways, ValuJet and Radisson hotel chain. The newsletter's introductory price is $19 yearly.
