Floyd County (21-5) broke open the game in the third period, expanding a one-point halftime lead to 14 points.
Sowers had four 3-point goals in the decisive surge and finished the game with seven rebounds. Amy Vest added 10 points and nine assists.
Both teams advance to the Class A state tournament, with the Buffaloes playing host to Honaker on Tuesday night at 7.
Crystal Kestner led Northwood with 16 points.
Grundy 65 Blacksburg 60: Grundy defeated Blacksburg in the Region IV Championship game in Grundy to advance to the state tournament.
The game was tied at 60 with under a minute to go in the game. Grundy grabbed the lead on a stick back with 44 seconds left. After a missed Blacksburg shot, Grundy capitalized as Ashley Mullins nailed 3-4 free throws in the last 23 seconds to seal the victory.
Freshman Leigh Farmer scored 16 points on the night and added six rebounds and five blocked shots for the Golden Wave. Jane Bagwell added 14 points for Grundy (17-6). The Indians (11-13) were led by April Rogers who scored 14 points, had six assists and four steals.
