BELMONT CHRISTIAN CHURCH, a Disciples of Christ congregation at 1101 Jamison Ave. S.E., has scheduled its annual Hanging of the Greens program for Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The event includes the singing of unusual carols with the stories behind them as well as narration on some of the symbols of the Advent and Christmas seasons. A social period will follow the service.

FLAMES OF PENTECOST, a Roanoke pentecostal group, will sponsor a women's breakfast Saturday at the Airport Sheraton Inn. The Rev. Billie Hunt of Houston, Texas, will speak. To reserve a place at the meal, which begins at 9, call 563-9692.

Hunt also will lead revival services Sunday through Wednesday at the Church of the Harvest, 5530 Williamson Road. Call 362-3064 for service times or more information.

CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 608 Campbell Ave. S.W., plans three performances for its 27th annual Singing Christmas Tree. They will be Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.; and Dec. 10 at 5 and 8 p.m. A nursery will be provided.

GRACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 4404 Williamson Road, has scheduled Jack Foreaker, a Maryland puppeteer, for Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. Foreaker, a recovering alcoholic, has traveled throughout the Southeast with a message to discourage children from experimenting with legal or illegal drugs. The program is especially for children 5 through 12.

AN ADVENT QUIET MORNING with a focus on the coming of Christ will take place Dec. 2 at St. James Episcopal Church, 4515 Delray St. N.W. Open to the community, the service will begin at 8:30 and end at 12:15 p.m. with prayer and meditations by the Rev. M. Anthony Seel Jr.., the rector. Call 366-4157 for more information.

THE REV. CHRISTOPHER L. KINGERY will be ordained to the gospel ministry on Dec. 3 at Red Hill Baptist Church, 6251 Franklin Road. He has been youth director of the church for the past several months and is the son of the church's pastor, the Rev. Gary A. Kingery. A reception will be held after the 3 p.m. service.

AN ECK SERVICE, based on the "soul travel" techniques of Eckankar, will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Holiday Inn, Tanglewood. Call 389-8043 for more information.

VINTON'S SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE, a seasonal ministry of Lynn Haven Baptist Church, may be seen five times this year. The free performances will be Dec. 7, 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m.. A 3 p.m. performance will be held on Dec. 10. A nursery will be available at the church at 1501 Washington Ave.

LYNN HAVEN BAPTIST CHURCH will present a play based on the comic story of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." Performances will be Dec. 1, 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. A nursery will be open for pre-school children.
