BLACKBURN, Stella Martin, 70, of Radford, passed away Saturday, November 25, 1995, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Blacksburg. She was the widow of Garland E. Blackburn. She was born November 7, 1925, at Independence, the Bridle Creek Community, to the late Leslie Martin Sr. and Donna Pugh Martin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Emma Phelps and Donna Lee Cox, and a brother, Ernest Martin. She was a retired sales clerk with Leggetts Department Store in Radford. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Douglas Gardner, Radford; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Robin Blackburn, Radford; four grandchildren, Amanda Gardner, Scott Gardner, Martin Blackburn and Brooke Blackburn, Radford; one brother, Leslie Martin Jr., Independence; two sisters, Lucille Souther, Sparta, N.C., and Edith Anderson, Dublin, and several nieces and nephews. BRATTON, Oscar Bailey, 90, of Radford, passed away Friday, November 24, 1995 at his home i n Fairlawn. Born at Cripple Creek, Va., he was preceded in death by his parents, three daughters, one son and a grandson, Michael Bratton Pack. He was a retired employee of Radford Limestone. BYRUM, Joseph Etheridge, 68, of Roanoke County, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 1995, in a local hospital. He was a son of the late George William Byrum and Elsie Baines Byrum. Mr. Byrum was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Coast Guard. He was retired from Norfolk Southern with over 30 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, a member of the Webber High Twelve Masonic Lodge #282 AF&AM and the Shrine Temple. He was a member of the American Legion, the D.A.V. and the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #197. He was a member of the Police Association of Virginia, and the Brambleton Hardee's Breakfast Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jane Carroll Byrum, Roanoke County; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca Byrum Hendrick, Roanoke County, Jan Elizabeth and Gregory Winston, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Wayne and Elaine Byrum; three grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Byrum and John Frankforther, all of Maumee, Ohio, and Sydney Marie Winston, Roanoke; sister, Odelle Oliver; brothers, William Earl Byrum, George Woodrow Byrum and John Alden Byrum, all of Suffolk. DOOLEY, Brian Kent, 36, of Forest, died Saturday, November 25, 1995 as a result of an automobile accident in Forest. He was born in Bedford, August 15, 1959, son of Donald Kent and Patsy Ayers Dooley of 107 Springhill Circle (Springhill Lake) Bedford. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank H. and Ruth Krantz Dooley of Lowry and his maternal grandfather, William H. (Bill) Ayers of Bedford. Brian's love of life was witnessed by his involvement in outdoor sports, especially golf. He was a member of the Liberty High School State Baseball Championship Team of 1977. Following in the footpirnts of his grandfather, he enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces, serving in both the Navy and later in the U.S. Air Force deployment to Saudia Arabia during Desert Storm as a member of a Stealth Fighter Bomber Squadron. He was employed as a Field Service Technician for B & W Nucl ear Technologies. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rosalie Richman Dooley; his children, Brian Kent Dooley II and Stacia Gabrielle Dooley all of Forest; two sisters, Beth L. Dooley of Forest and Dana S. Dooley of Greensboro, N.C.; his maternal grandmother, Lillie Bragg Ayers of Bedford. A graveside service for family members will be held at Virginia Memorial Park after which friends are invited to attend a Service of Celebration honoring Brian's life 11 a.m Monday, November 27, 1995 at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. GAREN, Mabel Dix, born March 21, 1908, died Friday, November 24, 1995, at The Berkshire Nursing Home, Vinton, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald R. Garen. They were natives of Chicago, Ill., and moved to Roanoke in 1973. She is survived by two sisters, Frances Fennell of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Emily Aspeslet of Alberta, Canada; children, Donna L. Cunningham and her spouse, Roy, of Roanoke; Dana H. Garen and his spouse, Helen, of Tokyo, Japan; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth J. Cohen and her spouse, Steven, of Damascus, Md., David J. Emon and his spouse, Lorri, of Smithsburg, Md., Mark K. Emon and his spouse, Deborah, of Baltimore, Md., Peter D. Emon of Blacksburg, Va. and Donald B. Garen and his spouse, Yuko, of Roanoke, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jason and Gregory Cohen and Christopher and Cynthia Garen, and several loving cousins of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Garen was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Roanoke, Va. (ECW Chapter 7). For many years, she was a faithful volunteer with Operation Head Start and the American Red Cross. She was an officer in the Credit Women's Association and retired from Colonial American National Bank/Crestar Bank, where she was employed in the Credit Department. REYNOLDS, Robert C., (``Pappy""), 64, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 24, 1995. Mr. Reynolds served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a retired sergeant from the Roanoke City Police Department with 23 years of service, and had coached youth baseball for many years for the P.A.L. and F.O.P. organizations. He was a member of Melrose Christian Church, where he served as Elder, Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher for many years, and was president of District 3, Disciples of Men. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles P. and Rossie Reynolds; his stepfather, Arnold W. Crawford, and two brothers, William Andrew and Meredith Preston Reynolds. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Georgianna Reynolds; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Sherry V. Reynolds, Roanoke; his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra R. and Eugene Blackshear, Charlotte, N.C., Donna R. and Craig S.
