GLENVAR'S NERVO MAKES NATIONALS

Glenvar's Trish Nervo finished third in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships south regional Saturday in Charlotte, N.C., to advance to the nationals for the second straight year. Nervo completed the 5K course in 17 minutes, 42.5 seconds - nine seconds shy of Jessica Koch of Round Rock, Texas, who won the race in 17:33.1.

The top eight girls and boys from each of the four regions will travel to San Diego for the nationals on Dec.9. Nervo finished 29th in last year's nationals.

Sarah Hendricks of Blacksburg finished 29th in the regional race. Hendricks ran the course in 18:47.

Ben Cooke of Floyd County placed 28th in the boys' race, finishing in 16:14.6. Sharif Karie of Burke won the boys' competition in 15:24.7.
