FORMER TECH PROFESSOR DIES IN MARYLAND

Coy Brooks, a professor in Virginia Tech's animal science department from 1954 to 1966, died Friday in Silver Spring, Md., of lung cancer.

Brooks, an expert on swine nutrition, left Blacksburg to become head of the animal science department at the University of Hawaii. He stayed there from 1966 to 1977, then returned to head Tech's Tidewater Research and Continuing Education Center until 1984.

He received his graduate degrees from the University of Missouri.
