He is survived by his wife, Ann Campbell Atwell, Chilhowie; two daughters, Mrs. Scott (Martha) Anderson, Fredricksburg, and Nancy A. Able, Chilhowie; three granddaugh ters, Alisha Able and Jessica Able, both of Chilhowie, and Kelsey Anderson, Fredricksburg; one grandson, Travis Anderson, Fredricksburg; three sisters, Ina Mae Trimmer, Seven Mile Ford, Sue Hopkins, Virginia Beach, Helen Burroughs, Savannah, Ga. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Wright and the Rev. Jeff Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nebo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. BAIRD, James Wesley, (``Jimmy""), 84, of Roanoke County, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 1995. Mr. Baird was a longtime member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, and was retired from Carter and Jones Dry Cleaning. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Johnson Baird; a daughter, Danna Hand, Staunton; a grandson, Jason Wesley Hand; a brother, William M . Baird, Roanoke; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia B. and Robert I. Price, Roanoke; a niece, Lynn B. Rodgers, Columbus, Ohio, and a nephew, James R. Bowman, Raleigh, N.C. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel Thursday, November 30, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Watts officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. BEAN, Ruby Earl, 83, of Salem, passed away Monday, November 27, 1995. She taught in Roanoke and Roanoke County Schools for 43 years. She was a life member of First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Salem Chapter of Eastern Star. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patsy Bean, Salem; grandchildren, Capt. James E. Bean, Fort Bragg, N.C., Tiki Bean an d Wade Smith, Partlow, Donald Shelton, Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Zachery, D.J., Laura and Patti Smith. BRYANT, Melba Naff, 67, formerly of Pilot, died early Tuesday morning, November 28, 1995. She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Archie P. Naff; a sister, Diane N. COLLINS, Lucille, (``Granny''), 76, of Blacksburg, died Monday, November 27, 1995 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Giles County on March 28, 1919. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Maggie and Charles Hardymon, Christiansburg, Mary Smith, Radford; two granddaughters, Mary Lang, Roanoke, Wanda Younce, Christiansburg; one grandson, Joseph Collins, Blacksburg; fourteen great-grandchildren; ten grea t-great-grandchildren. DORAN , William Raymond, 83, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord at 1 p.m. on November 27, 1995 after fighting a brave battle against cancer. Mr. Doran was retired from the N & W Railway after 46 years of service. Mr. Doran was a member of Ghent Grace Brethren Church. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Marie Hall Doran; also surviving are two daughters, Donna Basham and JoAnn Doran, both of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Donna Peters and husband, Gary, and Dana Mullen and husband, Steve; grandson, Jimmy Basham; five great-grandchildren, Cory, Amanda, and Brianna Peters, and Seth and Samantha Mullen; two brothers, Russell Doran, Roanoke, and Fred Doran, Salem; three sisters, Marie Sink, Kathleen Dunn, and Doris Williamson, all of Roanoke. HOUSEHOLDER, William L. Jr. 74, of Etters, Pa., died Monday, November 27, 1995 in Harrisburg Hospital. He was born in York Haven, Pa. He was a supervisor at the Newcumberland Army Depot, retiring in 1980 after 32 years of service. He serviced in the United States Army in World War II, and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church, New Cumberland, Pa. He was a member of the James A. Danner V.F.W. Post #537. He was the son of the late W. Lester and Carrie (Reeser) Householder Sr.. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice (Bupp) Householder; two daughters, Brenda Evans, Bedford, N.H., Norma Quarles, Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Melvin Householder, York Haven, Pa.; two sisters, Fairy Danner, Mount Wolf, Pa., Thelma Gundy, York Haven, Pa.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. KAPLAN, Hilda Silverman, 78, of Danville formerly of San Lions Trail, Martinsville died Monday, November 27, 1995 at Roanoke United Methodist Home, Roanoke. She was the wife of her husband, the late Sam Kaplan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Annie Hordish Silverman. MAGEE, Jean F., 68, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully in a local hospital Tuesday, November 28, 1995. She was a retired Air Force Major. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Tommy Blankenship; also a brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Betty Jo Magee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. MILLS, Edward Russell, (Retired CSM), 65, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, November 27, 1995. He was a retired Command Sargeant Major of the United States Army, serving his country for 29 faithful years. He is survived by his wife, Julia C. Mills; one son, Russell Mills, Roanoke; two brothers, James B. (Ann) Mills and George H. (Augustine) Mills, both of Radford, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. MOSES, Maynard, (``Peg""), 81, of Newport News, died Tuesday, November 28, 1995 at his home. A native of Roanoke County, Va., he had been a Peninsula resident since 1941. Mr. Moses retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a machinist in M53 Repair Machine Shop in 1979 after 37 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, the Steadfast Sunday School Class and the Banberry Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gladys Webber Moses; two daughters, Doris Marie Babcock of Norfolk and Ruby Lee Gagnon of Westfield, Mass.; his sister, Eva Mae Bess, Salem; three brothers, Clarence Moses, Nashville, Tenn., Frank Lee Moses, Toledo, Ohio, and Alvin Moses, Newport News; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was born August 28, 1901 in Grassy Creek to B. L. and Rosa Pugh Robbins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flora Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
