A TRIBUTE TO THE GRANDKIDS

Margaret and Odell Holland have been contributing to the Good Neighbors Fund for years, but this year they designated their donation in honor of their grandchildren.

Kelly Holland, 6, is in the first grade at Buchanan Elementary School, and her brother, Travis, 5, is in kindergarten. "This is the first year we've done this for them," said Margaret Holland, adding, "they have been so blessed."

"We really like the idea of being able to help someone who can't pay their electric bill one month. Maybe this would keep them from being put out," Margaret Holland said.

The Third Thursday Bridge Club has made its first donation to the fund. Members decided that instead of exchanging gifts this year, they would give $5 each to the fund.

At our age, you've got everything you need," said member Grace Mills.

"This is such a good thing you're doing. People in Roanoke are very generous this way."
