HOTLINE PROVIDES SCHOOL CLOSING INFO

The InfoLine School Closing Hotline service begins its third season of operation this winter. The hotline serves participating public and private schools (from pre-schools to colleges) in the Roanoke and New River Valley areas by providing an alternative source for school closing information for students, parents, and faculty.

School closing information is updated by school personnel at any time, from any touchtone telephone, so the information is often available earlier than on radio or television. And, the report for a specific school or school district is available on demand, making it a faster and more convenient resource for callers than the traditional broadcast reports, said Chuck Almarez, InfoLine coordinator.

To use the InfoLine School Closing Hotline, get your school's direct code from your school district administrator, or call InfoLine (Roanoke, 981-0100; New River Valley, 382-0200) and enter code 7669.

Be sure to call the night before or early in the morning to avoid a busy signal. School closing hotlines have received as many as 35,000 calls in a single month.
