TOUR FLOYD ON SUNDAY

LENGTH: Short : 23 lines
ILLUSTRATION: PHOTO: 1. Pictured here are two of several buildings you'll see

on the walking tour of downtown Floyd on Sunday before the town's

Christmas parade. Henry Dillon, an Irish-born brick mason, built a

home (right) for Dr. Tazewell Headen in 1849. Headen used the home

for his medical practice. Dr. John Stuart lived there for a time and

was visited by his brother, Confederate general J.E.B. Stuart. 2.

Another landmark in downtown Floyd is the Horatio Howard Building

(above), now Farmer's Supply. Constructed in 1897, the building

became the current hardware store in 1937. This photo dates from

about 1902. For more information on the historic walking tour, see

"Etc." in today's calendar.
