DAVIS, Mary Jane, 82, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, November 26, 1995. She was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Davis; a son, William Chester Davis. She is survived by a devoted daughter, Juanita M. Jefferies, Roanoke; four sisters, Mary E. Knight and Odessa Knight, both of Baltimore, Md.; Pauline Holmes, New Jersey, Rine Knight, Farmville; four brothers, Therdore Knight, Baltimore, Md., Arthur Knight, Meriden, Conn., William Earl Knight and Jim Knight, Farmville; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 1995, noon, Maple Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Vater Colbert officiating. Burial will be in Williams Memorial Park. DEWEESE, Hazeltine Myrtle, 67, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip A. and Gertrude Wertz Deweese. She is survived by aunts and uncles, Annie Wertz Ferguson and husband, Guy, Ola Wertz Hippert, Hazel Wertz McNulty and husband, Raymond, all of Roanoke; also surviving are a number of cousins and friends. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 1, 1995 at Sherwood Memorial Park, with Elder Kenneth Currier officiating. Arrangments are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.

ELKINS, Josephine Harper, 95, died Tuesday, November 28, 1995, in Belmont, Mass. She was the wife of the late Frederick L. Elkins. Born in Draper, Va., she became a school teacher. She lived in Fries and Roanoke for many years. Mrs. Elkins is survived by a sister, Kate Trayer, Vinton; a daughter, Mary Elkins Moller, Cambridge, Mass.; three grandchildren of New Jersey, Lenox, Mass., and Guatemala; three great-grandchildren. GAYNOR, Albert E. Sr., 61, of West Hemstead, N.Y., passed away Sunday, November 26, 1995. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 1995, 2 p.m., at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Dr. J. GILBERT, Jack W., 58, of Richmond, formerly of Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, November 29, 1995. Memorial service will be Saturday, December 2, 1995 11 a.m. at Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

GRIM, Frances Virginia Henry, 85, of Salem, died Thursday, November 30, 1995 in her home. She was the widow of Marshall S. Grim. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was a retired LPN from Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Surviving are her five sons, John Grim, Troutville, Edward Grim, Arlington, Tx., Marshall S. Grim, Jr., and Henry Grim, Salem, Richard Grim, Roanoke; one daughter, Cynthia Grim, Salem; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friends, Eddie and Jeanie Wallace, and Milton and Claudine Kanode. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, December 2, 1995 at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, with Dr. Ray Frazier and the Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. MCCOY, Fredric M., 76, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 1995 at his home. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a Past Master of the Hardin Masonic Lodge #44 Mount Sterling, Ill., Quincy Consistory. He was a member of the American Legion of Virginia, the VFW of Shelby, Ohio, the Roanoke Moose Lodge #284, and the Valley Amateur Radio Club. He is survived by his wife, Idonna Lucille McCoy; daughter and son-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel Martha and Patrick Kelly, Stuttgart, Germany; sons and daughters-in-law, F. Michael and Emily McCoy, Roanoke, Jim and Lisa McCoy, Richmond; six grandchildren, Patrick and Erin Kelly, Meredith and Allison McCoy, Kate and Megan McCoy; one sister, Claire Rielly, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Earl McCoy, Denver, Colo. RIDGEWAY, Mildred Foster, of Stewartsville, died Thursday, November 30, 1995 at her home. She was the widow of Horace Ridgeway, and was a retired employee of the Bedford County Schools. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judith R. and Scott E. Levy, Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Ruth and Aaron Levy; sisters, Mrs. Juanita Ridgeway, Stewartsville, Mrs. Alma Frankie, Roanoke; a specia l niece, Ann Ridgeway, Stewartsville. TURNER, Draxie Layne, of Roanoke, departed this life to be with the Lord on November 30, 1995. She was the widow of Samuel D. Turner. Mrs. Turner lived in the Starkey Road area for many years and was active in community service through the Ogden Social Service Club. She was a charter member of New Hope Christian Church, active until recent years. She was born in Pikeville, Ky., July 16, 1905, a daughter of Ella Hamilton and Peter Layne. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel LaPrade, Petersburg, Jackie Petty Smith, Columbia S.C., Evelyn and Jimmy Tingler, Roanoke, Mary Jane Weeks, Chesterfield County, Ann and Curtis Dennis, Colonial Heights, Jean and Thurman Crowder, Marlene and Charles Leech Jr., all of Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Margaret D. Turner, Richmond; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert H. Turner and David M. Turner; one grandson, Michael D. Turner; and daughter and son-in-law, Audrey T. and Cecil Short. The family will receive friends at New Hope Christian Church, 4229 Welcome Valley Rd., S.W. on Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the church Saturday, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Derrow presiding, assisted by Paul H. Smith and family members who are participating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. Pall bearers will be her grandsons with the elders and deacons of New Hope Christian Church serving as honorary pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Christian Church or the American Diabetes Association. The family is being served by Oakeys' South Chapel on Brambleton Ave.

WALKER, Fannie Mae, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, November 30, 1995. She was the retired minister of A. O. H. Mount Bethel Church of God in Roanoke. She is survived by her husband, Taft A. Walker Sr.; one son and his wife, Taft A. Walker Jr. and Becky; one sister and brother in law, Amanda and James Board; daughter-in-law, Corintha M. Wheeler, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Etta, Cornelius, Corlis, Gwenderver, Orlando, Chauncey, Ignatius, David, Shamesha; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relative and friends. WYMER, Alfred Lee, 76, of Botetourt County, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Evelyn King Wymer and is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Dallas Wilson, Fincastle, Hester and Douglas Milliner, Chesterfield, Barbara and Kenneth Brogan, Fincastle, Carolyn and Myers Milliner, Fincastle; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel, Friday, December 1, 1 pm with the Rev. L. W. Carter officiating. Interment wil l be in Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle.
