Jason Clarke netted the game-winning goal in the sixth round of a shootout Friday night to give the Roanoke Express a 5-4 victory over Richmond in an East Coast Hockey League game at the Richmond Coliseum.

Jeff Jablonski scored two goals in a six-minute span of the third period to force the extra period.

Roanoke (13-9-0) took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a blast from Michael Smith off a faceoff six seconds into the first power play of the night. Dave Christian added his eighth goal of the year from Chris Potter 14:44 into the first period to give the Express a 2-0 lead.

The Express outshot Richmond 15-7 in the first period, the most shots the Renegades had allowed in any period this season.

In the shootout, Roanoke goaltender Daniel Berthiaume stopped all six Richmond shots.
