Time capsule

A time capsule will be buried Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lee Plaza, downtown Roanoke, in commemoration of Pearl Harbor Day.

Organizers of the Roanoke Valley History Museum's D-Day exhibit selected items to be interred for 50 years. The capsule will be opened in 2044, the 100th anniversary of the June 6, 1994, invasion of Normandy.

At 3 p.m., following the burial, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Roanoke Valley History Museum, Center in the Square, for the newly opened D-Day exhibit.

Both events are open to the public.
