FLEMING TOPPLES MONACAN

James Stokes and William Fleming overcame a slow start as the Colonels beat visiting Monacan 81-67 on Saturday night in a non-district boys' game.

Fleming was held to five points in the first quarter, but a 33-point outburst in the fourth quarter lifted the Colonels (2-0) to the victory.

Stokes dominated, scoring 32 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.

Charles Burnett added 15 points for Fleming, and Brad Dunleavy scored 14. Richard Wilson had 11 assists for the Colonels.

Monacan of Richmond (1-2), which lost to Patrick Henry on Friday, was led by Mike Shinn's 22 points.

Girls

Pulaski County 65, Woodbridge 54: The Cougars (1-1) broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to defeat Woodbridge (1-1) in the Albermarle Tip-Off Classic in Charlottesville.

Katrina Williams led Pulaski County with 24 points.

Cave Spring 61, GW-Danville 56: Cheryl Rhodes scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Knights past the Eagles in a non-district game in Danville.

Rhodes did most of her damage from the free-throw line, making all 10 of her attempts, including six in the fourth quarter. Amy Causey added 13 for the Knights and Alyssa Redick had 11.

The Eagles were led by Shanna Price, who had 24.

Roanoke Valley Christian 37, Roanoke Catholic 23: Rebecca Bryant scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Eagles past the Celtics in the championship game of Blue Ridge Conference Tip-Off Tournament at North Cross.

Gina Guthrie added 13 points and nine rebounds for RVC (2-0), and Bryant also grabbed nine rebounds.

Catholic (1-1) was led by Theresa Monsour, who scored seven points.

Stuart Hall 37, North Cross 20: Stuart Hall defeated the Raiders in the consolation game of the Blue Ridge Conference Tip-Off Tournament at North Cross.

Jen Davis led Stuart Hall (1-1) with 16 points and Alicia Harman added 14. The Raiders (0-2) were led by Katherine Kelly, who scored 10 of their 20 points.
