AGEE, Dock, 78, of Route 1, Callaway, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 1995. He was born May 30, 1917, in Callaway, son of the late Henry and Aralet Agee. Mr. Agee was a retired employee of Eli Lilly in Roanoke, a World War II veteran, a faithful member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church, a respected citizen of the community, but most importantly, he loved and served the Lord and was the most dedicated and caring husband, father and grandfather God ever created. Survivors inlcude his wife, Eva Webb Agee; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Carolyn Agee, Midlothian, Ed and Kathy Agee, Roswell, Ga., and Rendy and Becky Agee, Callaway; one daughter and son-in-law, Arlet and Ed Greer, Callaway; six grandsons; seven granddaughters; one sister, Cora Lee Rosemary, Plainfield, Ind., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Piedmont Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Slider officiating. Interment will follow in the Callaway Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Callaway Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 44, Callaway, Va. 24067. BROWER, Margaret Gwynne, 54, of Salem, passed away Thursday, November 30, 1995 after a lengthy illness at home. She was a member of First United Methodist of Salem and student at Virginia Western. She is survived by her husband, Mervin W. Brower; mother, Ruth Phillips, Peterborough, Ontario; sons, Wesley Brower, Toronto, Ontario, Matthew Brower, Peterborough, Ontario, David Brower of Germany; sister, Doreen Olds, Toronto, Ontario Canada; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bud and Janet Parry, Wesley and Elaine Brower, and Glenn and Joanne Brower of Calgary, Canada; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist in the Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 1995. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. CHAFFIN, Perry McKinley, 84, of Forest, died Saturday, December 2, 1995 in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Ffeiffer Biggs Chaffin. Born in Bedford County December 29, 1910, he was a son of the late Samuel Colea and Emma Owen Chaffin. Mr. Chaffin was a lifetime resident of Bedford County, where he was active in many community and business services. He was a retired farmer and a member of North Bedford Baptist Church. He held a directorship on the Roanoke Production Credit Association and Southern States Cooperative, charter membership in the Boonsboro Ruritan Club and was a member of Forest Masonic Lodge #245. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard P. and Debbie Chaffin, Forest; one brother, Ray F. Chaffin, Charlottesville; two sisters, Inez C. Hubbard, Lynchburg, and Evelyn C. Hoover, Charlotte, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from North Bedford Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles L. Stinson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. CRUTCHFIELD, Charles Leonard, (``Cicero""), of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995. He was the son of the late George W. Crutchfield and Helen Haynes Crutchfield. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force after twenty-six years of faithful service. He later retired from General Motors. Among the survivors are two sons, Eon (Karen) Williams, Weiterstadt, Germany, and Gary (Margorie) Crutchfield, Saudi, Arabia; one daughter, Kristina Crutchfield, Columbus, Ohio; mother of his children, Mary Crutchfield, Columbus, Ohio; wife, Raymunda Crutchfield, Columbus, Ohio; six sisters, Georgia Preston, Washington, D.C., Ernestine (Carroll) Holland, Christine C. Amos, Cleo C. (Joseph) Sims, Louise C. (Willis) Monroe and Luella Thaxton, all of Roanoke; three brothers, Joseph C. (Mary) Crutchfield, Charlottesville, William (Constance) Crutchfield and Anthony (Linda) Crutchfield, all of Roanoke; one grandchild, Kenneth Crutchfield, Saudi, Arabia; twenty-two nieces; eighteen nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends. EDWARDS, Gene Clayburn, 56, of Christiansburg, died suddenly early Sunday morning, December 3, 1995, at Montgomery Regional Hos pital of an apparent heart attack. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Edwards; three daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie E. and Michael G. Scott, Deneen Edwards and Jeannie Edwards, all of Christiansburg; a foster daughter, Dana Anton Jonas of Christiansburg; two grandsons, Devin Scott and Josh Scott; his mother, Eulalia Edwards of Christiansburg, and a sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and Willie Williams of Roanoke. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Warren Williams and the Rev. Douglas Kanney. Interment will follow in St. Matthews Cemetery near Riner. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. ELLIOTT, Jessie Noland, 80, of Independence, the Deerwood Estates, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va. She was the widow of Dr. E. Scott Elliott. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Independence, member of Independence Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #89, and member of Wednesday afternoon Bridge Players. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Scottie and Robert L. Dickenson, Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law, Dena Delores Dickenson, Benjamin David Dickenson, both of Atlanta, Ga., Christopher Scott and Darlene Dickenson, Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 5, 1995 at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church of Independence. The Rev. Brian Miller will officiate. Interment in Independence Cemetery. GEARY, Thomas William Jr., 76, of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 3, 1995. He was the widower of Dorothy Crabtree Geary. Mr. Geary retired in 1982, after thirty years, from Radford Arsenal. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Robert W. Stein III, Battle Creek, Mich.; three daughters, Barbara Goldberg, Arcata, Calif., Madge Piskorowski, Middlesex, N. J. and Linda Tayloe, Clarksville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Christine Longstreth, Lorie Piskorowski, Frank Piskorowski, Michael Simonson, Adrienne Tayloe and Davis Allen Tayloe; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 1995, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, by Father Gregory Kandt. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Diocesan Cemetery. GOSS, Julia F. Peterson, 81, wife of the Rev. Mr. Gerald Goss of Stanardsville, died in her sleep at 4 a.m. Sunday, December 3, 1995. ``Judy"" was born near Clearfield, Pa., on February 26, 1914. After graduation from Clearfield High School, she attended Practical Bible College in Binghampton, N.Y. She was the lifelong ``first assistant"" and pianist in the Rev. Goss' ministry to Baptist Churches in Pennsylvania and Virginia. In addition to the Rev. Goss, she is survived by her sons, Lee Gerald Goss and Dale Duane Goss of Roanoke, and Dr. Larry Z. Goss of Charlottesville, and their families. Her grandchildren and one great-grandchild live in Virginia, Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont and Alabama. A funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Cowen Ellis at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 5, 1995, at 1 p.m. The family will greet friends at the Ryan Funeral Home in Quinque on Monday from approximately 7 to 8 p.m.

HOPKINS, Howard, 75, of Roanoke, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 2, 1995 at a local hospital, following a lingering illness. A native of Rocky Mount, Va., he was the son of the late Rev. Morton Hopkins and Mrs. Eura E. Claytor Hopkins. He was Chairman of the Board of Deacons of High Street Baptist Church, and was retired from Moore's Building Supply Co. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Emma S. Hopkins; three sons, Howard Arland Hopkins, Harvey, Ill., Norris Hopkins and Morton B. Hopkins III, of Roanoke; one daughter, Rochelle Hopkins, Roanoke; two brothers, Morton B. Hopkins, Norfolk, Va. and Rexford L. Hopkins, Rocky Mount, Va.; two sisters, Marjorie H. Price, Alexandria, Va. and Vesper H. Edwards, Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; a host of cousins in the Claytor family, other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the B. T. U. PALMER, William K., (``Bill""), 42, of Fort Worth, Texas, died at his home on Friday, December 1, 1995. POOLE, William Edgar Jr., (``Bill""), 62, of Piney Community, Wytheville, died Saturday, December 2, 1995 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was the son of the late William Edgar Poole Sr. and Edna King Poole. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a sister, Daphene Poole Aker. He is survived by his wife, Millie Frye Poole, Rt. 3, Wytheville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Kay Poole and Garvey Hayes, Robin Poole, Beth Ann Poole, all of Wytheville; two brothers, Troy Poole, Rt. 3, Wytheville, James Poole, Ivanhoe; five sisters, Mrs. Harold (Audre) Hagee, Dublin, Mrs. Freddie (Virginia) Weatherman, Mrs. Jimmy (Wanda) Alley, both of Ivanhoe, Mrs. Robert (Faye) Reynolds, Austinville, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Tomlinson, Rt. 3, Wytheville; two grandchildren, Whitney and Jordan Richardson, Rt. 3, Wytheville. RATLIFF, Jimmie Hawks, 65, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995. She was a registered nurse with over 20 years service at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Marjie Ratliff, Jake Ratliff, all of Roanoke; daughter, Susan R. Gray, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Justin Douglas Gray, William Kenneth Gray; a sister, Norma Anderson, Abingdon; two brothers, Jerry Hawks, Warrenton, Dickie Hawks, Fries. STALEY, Treva Nell, 85, of Salem, died Saturday, December 2, 1995, at Richfield Nursing Center. She was retired from the C&P Telephone Company with 22 years of service, and was a member of the company's Pioneer Club. She later retired from Community Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are a brother, Edgar W. Staley Sr. of Roanoke; one niece and her husband, Treva Sue and Eddie Johnson of Orange Park, Fla.; one nephew and his wife, Edgar W. Staley Jr. and Ann B. Staley of Roanoke; one great-niece, Melanie Bradshaw, and one great-nephew, Eddie Lee Johnson. There will be private funeral services at Sherwood Memorial Park at a later date. TALBOTT, Walter Richard, (Bud), 59, of Rt. 1, Fairfield, died Saturday, December 2, 1995 in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. He was born on January 15, 1936, in Richmond, Va., a son of Daisy Alford Talbott, Cambridge, Ohio and the late Roland D. Talbott. Mr. Talbott retired as Support Services Manager for AT & T, Bedminister, New Jersey. He was a volunteer computer consultant for the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Talbott was a U. S. Air Force Veteran. He was a Councilman in Califon, N. J. and a member of the AT & T Pioneers. Also, he was a member of the Rockbridge Amateur Radio Club, the Fairfield Moose Lodge #2135, the Fairfield Ruritan Club and the Rockbridge Civil War Roundtable. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, June (Towery) Talbott; three sons, Walter R. (Rick) Talbott II, Walnutport, Pa., Roland L. (Von) Talbott and John R. Talbott, both of Bethlehem, Pa.; one grandson; and a number of cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 1995, in the Williams Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Kestner officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Fairfield Rescue Squad. TATE, Lt. Col. Eugene R., (retired), 80, of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 3, 1995. He entered the U. S. Army in 1942, and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in May of 1943. In addition to assignments in the United States, he served in the Caribbean area, the Far East and Germany. He retired from active service in 1962, and then was employed as a security specialist with the Department of D efense from 1966 to 1970. Lt. Col. Tate is survived by his sister, Mrs. Mildred T. Niswander of Jacksonville, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be held Tuesday, December 5, at 12 noon in Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. Sam Crews officiating. Family visitation will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel

TIBBS, Ray Randolph, 78, of Bastian, died Saturday, December 2, 1995, in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital at Winston-Salem. He was a retired truck driver, a U . S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post #20 of Bland. He was a member of the North Holston United Methodist Church at Ceres. He was a charter and honorary member of the Ceres Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Mallie Repass Tibbs of Bastian; one sister, Beulah T. Newberry of Bland, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the North Holston United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Schoeneman and the Rev. Randy Morris. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery, Ceres. The family will receive friends at the church Monday evening from 4 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Holston United Methodist Church or to the Bethany Cemetery Fund. WEBBER, Lorene, 70, of Rt. 3, Vinton, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995. She was retired from Community Hospital of the Roanoke Valley and a member of the Garden City Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Herbert and Lillie Mason. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence E. Webber; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Fitzgerald, Vinton, Delores Frost, Vinton; son, Ronald Webber, Goodview; nine grandchildren, Eric Fitzgerald and wife, Beckie, Melissa Fitzgerald, Brian Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Bowles and Rhonda Webber, Monica Webber, Sonya Webber, Olivia Webber and Jessica Webber; two stepgrandchildren, Tanya Boone, Kevin Fitzgerald; six great-grandchildren. WILBURN, Dorothea B., 89, of Ferrum, died Sunday, December 3, 1995, in Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of the Rev. Dr. L. Oakey Wilburn (a United Methodist minister in the Virginia Conference until his death in 1964) and a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wilburn received her undergraduate degree from Goucher College and a master's degree in Library Science from Drexel University. She was a retired librarian from Ferrum College. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (``Peggy"") and Benjamin R. Smith Jr. of Ferrum; three brothers, Warren Baxter of LaGrange, Ill., John Baxter of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Allen Baxter of Haverford, Pa., and two grandchildren, Elizabeth W. (``Betsy"") Smith of Ferrum and Philip W. and wife Trisha Smith of Troy, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from St. James United Methodist Church (Vaughn Chapel at Ferrum College), with the Rev. Edward J. Taylor Jr. officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke. WRIGHT, Kenneth R., 60, of Richmond, formerly of the Comers Rock Comm unity, Independence, passed away Sunday, December 3, 1995, at his home. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Mays Wright of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Diane Wright, and Jeff and Tina Wright of Richmond; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and A. B. Glover III of Amelia and Karen and Michael Murrell of Richmond; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Louise Tuckmantel of Baltimore, Md., and Patsy Eller of Joppa, Md.; a brother, Al Wright of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Richmond. The body will be brought to the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, and a second funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Comers Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday. WRIGHT, Page Vaughan, 88, of Roanoke, died Sunday, December 3, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Wright, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clement R. Vaughan. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, she taught in the Roanoke City Schools from 1929 until her marriage in 1933. For 35 years, she was on the staff of the Roanoke Chapter of the American Red Cross and served as it s executive director for 34 years until her retirement in 1971. Mrs. Wright was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, December 4, at 3 p.m., conducted by Dr. William R. Klein. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Second Presbyterian Church or the Red Cross. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel
