A Roanoke man was indicted Monday on charges of drunken driving and aggravated involuntary manslaughter in connection with an October automobile accident that left one person dead and two injured.
Mark H. Mullins, 29, was named in an indictment returned by a grand jury in Roanoke Circuit Court.
The charges stem from an accident that killed Thu Van Ma, 29, of Roanoke.
Police have said that about 1:45 a.m. Oct. 18, Ma pulled out of a commercial driveway in the 3500 block of Shenandoah Avenue and was hit by a westbound car. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Mullins was treated at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and released a short time later.
Two passengers in Ma's car - Hau Thi Ma and Qua Van Ma - also were treated for injuries.
At the time of the accident, police said they believed excessive speed and alcohol were involved.
If convicted, Mullins could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison on the aggravated involuntary manslaughter charge and one year in jail for drunken driving.
