Quincy Springs scored 14 points to lead a balanced James River attack as the Knights pounded Auburn 60-42 on Monday night in a non-district boys' game in Riner.
Brian Shorter added nine points for the Knights (1-0) and Shahan Burrell and Chris Firebaugh each added eight.
Kenny Wojciechowski led Auburn (0-2) with 14 points, including 8-of-8 free-throw shooting. Conrad Hughes added 11.
Patrick County 70, Carroll County 48: Christian Batcheller scored nine points on three 3-pointers in a big Patrick County third quarter as the Cougars broke open a close game and went on rout the Cavaliers in a non-district game in Hillsville.
Batcheller finished with a game-high 20 points for Patrick County (1-0), including five 3-pointers.
Carroll County (0-2) was led by Ryan Morris' 12 points.
