Opera auditions
Opera Roanoke will conduct auditions for leading roles, ensemble roles and chorus positions on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the second floor rehearsal hall of the Jefferson Center, Roanoke.
Performers are expected to sing two contrasting arias - one in English and one in a foreign language - and to provide their own accompanist. A pianist will be available for a $15 fee. Performers who have auditioned in the past two years are exempt.

Holiday pledge wall
``Join Us, Do Your Part, Pledge Not To Drink and Drive During the Holiday Season'' is the message on a large pledge wall being erected for public signatures at Tanglewood Mall, Roanoke.
The wall is part of the Regional Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Campaign.
Kickoff ceremonies for the wall are Thursdayat 4:45 p.m. in the Hospitality Suite on the mall's lower level. The ceremonies will continue on Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
