Virginia has 10 players on the all-state football team selected by sports information directors, and Virginia Tech received the top two individual honors.
Frank Beamer was selected coach of the year for guiding the Hokies to a 9-2 record and a berth in the Sugar Bowl. Tech defensive end Cornell Brown was voted the player of the year.
VMI running back Thomas Haskins made the team, as did Roanoke twins and UVa players Tiki and Ronde Barber.
Four players from James Madison, three from William and Mary and one each from Richmond and Liberty completed the squad. (Complete team in Scoreboard. B4)

The Virginia Tech women's basketball team will take on fifth-ranked Virginia in Charlottesville tonight at 7:30.
