The Allstate Foundation recently donated $2,500 to the LOA Area Agency on Aging to provide emergency meals to homebound senior citizens over age 60. The 2-year-old program, funded solely by the Allstate Foundation, is designed to provide immediate assistance to seniors for short-term needs.|
The Norfolk Southern Foundation recently donated $5,000 to the Bogardus Project, the YWCA of the Roanoke Valley's proposed child care center.
The YWCA will build the facility next to its central center in downtown Roanoke on land donated by Appalachian Power Company. The YWCA also has received $33,000 in contributions from individuals and board members, and in-kind gifts from Hill Studio, a Roanoke architectural firm that donated more than $9,000 worth of services; and the Junior League of the Roanoke Valley, which has underwritten an ongoing promotional project with gifts totalling $1,500 to date.
