Radford University's Ian Spooner continued to add honors to his already impressive resume this week. Spooner was named to the 1995 South Atlantic Division I first team and was drafted by the American Professional Soccer League.
The Highlanders' star led the team to an 11-5-3 record by registering 20 goals and nine assists, becoming the nation's second-leading scorer. He was the first Big South Conference player to ever win back-to-back Player of the Year awards.
Spooner joins University of Virginia players Mike Fisher, Damian Silveria and Brandon Pollard on the All-South Atlantic squad. Pat McSorley of James Madison, John Ferrandino of George Mason, and goalkeeper Paul Grafer of William and Mary also made the team.
The New York Centaurs drafted Spooner 44th overall, in the sixth round. New York is in the eight-team ``A League'' that includes Atlanta, Denver, Montreal, and Seattle.
