BOLES, Delia Ethel, 99, of Newport, died Friday, December 8, 1995 in Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born March 25, 1896 in Newport, Va. where she lived most of her life. She resided in Blacksburg and Christiansburg after the highway took her home in Newport. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ-Apostolic, Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Furrow and John W. Boles, a son, Charlie C. Furrow and an adopted son, (nephew) Ira E. Shepherd. She is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Hazel Keister, Christiansburg, Kathleen Hypes, Bertha and Yancy Lafon, all of Newport; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Clarence W. and Minnie Furrow, Irvin (Red) and Janice Furrow, all of Newport, Robert H. and Ella Furrow, Elsie Furrow, all of Blacksburg; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 1995 at 12 noon at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

EASTWOOD, James Wilson, 79, of Staunton, died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at his residence. He was born June 29, 1916 in Providence, RI, the son of late David H. and Jane Murray Eastwood. He was the retired Dean of Admissions at the University of Rhode Island. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Frances Reed Eastwood; a daughter, Judith Eastwood Macomber, of Raleigh, NC; a son, David Reed Eastwood, of Port Washington, NY; four grandchildr en, and one great-grandchild. FAGAN, Mary E., 104, of Roanoke, and formerly of Wallace, Va., near Bristol, Va., died Thursday, December 7, 1995 in a local nursing home. Miss Fagan was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and a retired secretary. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. C. W. ""Margaret"" Farrelly, Roanoke; and a brother, Joseph V. Fagan, Roanoke. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral Mass will be at St. Andrew's Catholic Church 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 1995, with the Rev. Randy Rule officiating. GOODYKOONTZ, Claudine N., 90, a retired Radford teacher, died Friday, December 8, 1995. She was the widow of Charles Alfred Goodykoontz. Surviving are one son, Alf Goodykoontz of Richmond; two brothers, Hugh Oakey Noell, Roanoke, D avid Stark Noell, Fargo, ND.; two grandsons, Charles A Goodykoontz III, Rochester, N.Y., William O. Goodykoontz Jr. of Phoeniz, Ariz.; two great-grandsons, Brian and Eric Goodykoontz of Rochester, N.Y. Her younger son, William O. Goodykoontz of Radford, died in 1981. HARRIS, Delora Lewis, 68, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born September 18, 1927 in Cogswell (Rownd County), Kentucky to the late John W. and Ada Collins Lewis. She received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a masters degree from Virginia State University. She taught first and second grades for 30 years in Prince George, Va. She is survived by her husband, Paul S. Harris; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie H. and Alan McDaniel, Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul S. Harris Jr. and Rebecca Harris, Arcadia, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ian K. and Ryan K. McDaniel, Blacksburg, Katherine and John Paul Harris, Arcadia, Fla.; three sisters, Juanita Fitzthum and Thelma Lysinger, both of Marblehead, Ohio, Beatrice Sedlak, Wauseon, Ohio; two brothers, Emerson E. LESTER, Margaret T., (``Peggy''), 78, of Marietta, Ga., died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at The Fountain View Center for Alzheimer's Disease in Atlanta. She was a native of Welch, W.Va., and had lived most of her life in Glade Spring before moving to Marietta seven years ago. She was a member of the Old Glade Presbyterian Church and the widow of James F. Lester. She is survived by her daughter, Patsy L. Engleman, Marietta, Ga.; her brother, William Taylor, Abingdon; two sisters, Mrs. G. E. (Ruth) Roberts, Point Pleasant, W.Va., Mrs. Bess Orr, Abingdon; one son-in-law, David V. Engleman, Marietta, Ga.; one brother-in-law, George Roberts, Point Pleasant, W.Va.; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Taylor, Richmond, Ky.; two grandchildren, Claire Engleman and Neal Engleman. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Old Glade Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Robert Lominack Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring. PARDUE, Sylvester Edgar, (``Junior""), 70, of Salem, died Friday, December 8, 1995, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He had retired from General Electric in 1988, had attended the Faith Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy and was a World War II Army Air Force veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4318 and is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Vivian Pardue. Survivors include a son, Michael Pardue, Salem; a daughter, Jeanette Nicely, Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Michael and Amy Pardue, Portland, Maine; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Homer Martin, Salem; a special friend, Mildred Ruff, Salem. SAR, Raymond V., 87, of Roanoke, died Thursday, December 7, 1995, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Sar was born April 9, 1908 on a farm near Essex, Iowa to the late Frank John Alfred Sar and Anna Elizabeth Amelia Hultine Sar. Mr. Sar graduated from Essex High School in 1925, received a BA degree from the University of Iowa in 1931, and graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1933. He then joined the law firm of Keenan and Clovis in Shenandoah, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was stationed in Los Angeles and later retired from the Navy Reserve with the rank of Commander. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the American Legion. After World War II he joined his brother-in-law, Leroy H. Johnson in his practice of law in Red Oak,Iowa. The firm later became Johnson, Sar and Williams. Over the years he held numerous positions and was active in civic organizations in Essex, Red Oak and Shenandoah, Iowa. In 1955 Mr. Sar moved to Alexandria, Va. and began his federal career at the Department of Justice. In 1959 he transferred to the Interstate Commerce Commission where he became an Administrative Law Judge. He retired in 1981. Mr. Sar is remembered as a Judge for his patience and courtesy and was respected and well liked by his peers. Due to numerous strokes and heart attacks, he and his wife moved to Roanoke in 1993 where they lived at Brandon Oaks Retirement Community. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was active in its affairs. His youngest son, John R. Sar died in an automobile accident in 1975. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Mrs. Frances Johnson, Red Oak, Iowa and Mrs. Laurene Dorr, Brighton, Colo. and his brother, LeRoy C. Sar, Essex, Iowa. Mr. Sar is survived by his wife of 55 years, Harriet E. Sar, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, William A. and Elizabeth F. Sar, Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Jackie S. Cleveland, Mesa, Ariz.; three grandsons, Robert A. Sar, Cary, N.C., J. Christopher Sar, Mesa, Ariz., David W. Sar, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 1995, at Oakey's North Chapel by Pastor John Hawn and the Rev. James Worline. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. TAYLOR, Diane Massie, 41, of Florence, S.C., and formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, December 7, 1995, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Halifax, Va., a daughter of Walter P. Massie Sr. and Patricia (Hayes) Massie, of Lexington. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. She was formerly employed as administrative manager of Burlington Industries, Bishopville Plant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Timmonsville, S.C., and was a member of the Night Bible Study Group. In addition to her parents, survivors include a son, Jeremy B. Taylor; and a daughter, Kendall Ann Taylor, both of Florence, S.C.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter P. Jr. and Sheila Massie, Roswell, Ga., and Michael H. and Maxine Massie, Oakton. THOMPSON, Alma Burton, 91, of 125 Locust Ave., Dublin, affectionately known as ``Mamaw"", died early Friday morning, December 8, 1995, at her home. Born in Bland County, January 13, 1904, she was the daughter of the late James A. Burton and Cora Corder Burton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Zeb Miller Thompson. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church since 1946. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Edith T. Wayne and Sue Thompson, both of Dublin; one son, Zebbie M. Thompson, Dublin; one son-in-law, Al Wayne; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn A.
