MIKE GOT IT RIGHT

And so, throughout his 15 years, did Mike. Only because he will continue with the paper as our guide to movies and videos as well as books, can I assume the position of book editor with unqualified pleasure and a sense of excitement. The Sunday book page has been a source of pride over my years of reviewing, and I feel privileged to be able to take part in its production.

With the help of an excellent staff of volunteer reviewers, I will strive to use this space to bring you timely information about books of general appeal and of regional interest. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Mike, just as the historical Roanoke, so graphically replicated in the George Davis photographs described in your calendar review, has shaped the present city, your presence has shaped The Roanoke Times book page. You have given it character, style, interest and humor. Thank you for letting me be part of it, as reviewer and now as editor.

So I say, may you fare well in your other writing endeavors; I'm glad this isn't goodbye.
