The Christiansburg Seniors and Law Enforcement Council Together offers some suggestions for a safe holiday season.
Lock all windows and doors before leaving or going to bed. Keep garage doors closed and locked. Keep Christmas presents away from the windows so they aren't visible.
If going away, use automatic timers to turn on lights, radio and television at dusk and off at bedtime. Do not allow mail to accumulate: stop newspapers and magazine deliveries. Arrange to have walks shoveled. Contact your local police department for home security checks while you are gone.
Call Officer Connie Bishop at the Christiansburg Police Department at 382-3131.
