TEENS CHARGED IN BURGLARIES

Police have arrested two Salem teen-agers in connection with burglaries of five Salem homes recently.

Pasquale Ralph Cicarelli, 18, and a 15-year-old male have been charged with burglarizing three West Salem homes last Friday and two other homes on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28, Salem Police Sgt. D.R. Divers said.

A Poff Lane resident came home Friday during the day and surprised two males in his home. He chased them out of the house but was unable to keep up with them, Divers said.

Police caught and arrested the 15-year-old after he ran out of a wooded area near Karen Hills subdivision shortly after noon, Divers said. Cicarelli was arrested about 1 p.m. near his Kimball Avenue residence.

The youth was arraigned Monday on 10 burglary-related charges and is being held at the Coyner Springs Juvenile Detention Center.

Cicarelli is being held in the Salem/Roanoke County Jail on an $18,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Between $4,000 and $5,000 in cash and merchandise was taken from the five homes, Divers said. Items with a total value of about $300 have been recovered.
