Virginia men's soccer players Brandon Pollard and Damien Silvera will play in the Umbro Select College All-Star Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on March 2, 1996.
The Umbro Select is a two-day, four-match all-star soccer event featuring graduating players from NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA schools. Pollard and Silvera will play for the East squad, which plays the West on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium.
Tommy Rappold of Roanoke captured his fourth and fifth individual titles on the final day of the Howard Johnson and Ground Round Invitational swim meet at Hargrave Military Academy.
Rappold, who swims at the Carter Center, captured the 100-meter backstroke and 50 freestyle in the 11-12 boys' age group. Other winners from the Carter Center included Steve Cromer in the seniors boys' 500 freestyle, Blair Huffman in the 13-14 girls' 200 breaststroke and Andy Bauman in the 11-12 boys' 100 freestyle.
