THE THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINA held its third annual horse show recently at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington. More than 90 riders from 11 therapeutic riding centers throughout the state competed. Division championships were won by Stuart Moen and Katie Austin. Reserve championship ribbons were awarded to Amy Keiser and Kathleen Gauley. Other riders from the Roanoke program who participated were: Molly Jo McCubbin, Britney Webb, Sarah Moen, Lauren Barbour, Eva Knapp, Annie Parrish, Kaitlin Litz, Nick Stamper and Maya Simmons.
CHARLES STOTT of Roanoke was recently re-elected as music vice president of the Smith Mountain Lake Harmoneers, a chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Lowell Logwood of Roanoke continues as the chorus director.
ROANOKE SISTER CITIES LIJIANG, CHINA, has elected the following officers: Pearl Fu, president; Thomas R. Brock, vice president; Gailen Miles, secretary; Bo Zhang, corresponding secretary; and Pat Bijwaard, Don Meyers, Kurt Rheinheimer and Erping Zhao, directors.
THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF ROANOKE VALLEY recently elected its new officers for 1996. They are: Ann P. Hutton, president; Rev. Larry Sprouse, president-elect; Maureen Guelzow, secretary; and Faith Wilson, treasurer. New members elected to the board of directors include Dr. Kristina Bulas, Dennis P. Hilson, Linda Little, Dr. Clifford A. Nottingham and Bittle W. Porterfield.
DR. ELEANOR WEDDLE BOBBIT, a Roanoke native and retired Longwood College physical education professor, has received the highest award from the Virginia Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
Bobbitt received the Pioneer Recognition Award at VAHPERD's convention Nov. 10 in Charlottesville.
The Award recognizes persons who have provided outstanding service to their profession and to VAHPERD; contributed significantly to the professional development of younger or new colleagues; and continue to serve as role models for other professionals.
HOLLY WEAVER, human resources manager for Lutheran Family Services in Roanoke, was recently named to the Board of Advisors of Bluefield College.
