Project Discovery provides college info

TAP Project Discovery is currently recruiting students in grades 6 to 12 who attend school in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem.

The program works with students and their families to provide information and guidance on how to choose a college, find financial aid and scholarships and make the transition to college life.

Roanoke's First Night needs volunteers

Roanoke will hold its fifth annual First Night Celebration, a safe, alcohol-free New Year's Eve party in downtown Roanoke, Dec. 31. Volunteers are needed to work one of two shifts: 6-9 p.m. or 9 p.m.-midnight. All volunteers will be finished in time to see the fireworks display and grand finale set for midnight.
