PULASKI SCHOOL OFFICIAL MOVING TO SOUTH CAROLIN

Pam Simpson, coordinator of curriculum and instruction for the Pulaski County school system, will resign in June to follow her husband to South Carolina where he has been transferred in his job.

"When I got here a year and a half ago, I didn't anticipate this," she said. "I will be here through my contract ... I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful the last year and a half has been."

Simpson has been instrumental in pushing the school system's Critical Skills/Critical Years program, aimed at making sure all students enter the upper grades with the skills they will need to learn.

"That's going to be a real blow. Pam's become a real integral part of our instructional program," Superintendent Bill Asbury said. He said she has been a driving force in restructuring the system's elementary and middle schools program.
