Cornell Brown, a consensus All-American and the Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year, was named Virginia Tech's Most Valuable Player at the banquet honoring the Hokies' 1995 football team Saturday night.
A junior from Lynchburg, Brown won the MVP award for the second straight season. He made All-America teams picked by The Associated Press, The Football Writers of America, United Press and The Football News. He also won the Dudley Award as Virginia's Player of the Year.
Other award winners at the banquet were: Bryan Still (outstanding senior); Lawrence Lewis and Jim Baron (John William Schneider Award for academic excellence, spirit and leadership); and Chris Malone and Jeff Holland (Freddie Cobb award for showing the most enthusiasm).

Wofford, which moved up to Division I this season, plans to announce Monday it will join the Southern Conference, according to sources close to the move.
Sources told The Associated Press the league officially would welcome three new members next week.
``I think Wofford and North Carolina Greensboro will make it known on Monday, and the College of Charleston will announce they're coming on Tuesday,'' said one source, who asked not to be identified.
Southern Conference commissioner Wright Waters was at the Division I-AA championship football game at Huntington, W.Va., and did not immediately return phone messages.
Wofford competed as an independent this season in Division I-AA football and Division I basketball. The Terriers previously had been Division II at both sports.
Wofford athletic director Danny Morrison said earlier this fall that the school would look to land in a conference that made sense geographically and academically.
Under the plan, Wofford would start playing a conference football schedule in 1997, replacing league power Marshall, which will jump to NCAA Division I-A.
The three new schools would mean the conference could break into two six-team divisions for basketball, the source said.
The South Division would include Wofford, Furman, The Citadel, the College of Charleston, Georgia Southern and Tennessee-Chattanooga.
The North Division would be made up of Davidson, Appalachian State, East Tennessee, VMI, Western Carolina and North Carolina Greensboro.
Earlier this week, reports said the College of Charleston would accept the Southern Conference's invitation to join. However, officials at the coastal school said that wasn't the case.
The Patrick Henry boys indoor track team took first place at the Walt Cormack Relays in Lexington sponsored by VMI and Potomac High School.
The Patriots garnered 54 points, besting T.W. Andrews (N.C.) by two points. Raheem Barnwell took first place for Patrick Henry in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 7.3 seconds. In the boys' 800 meter relay, the Patriots team of Lewis Booker, James Hickenbotham, Roshaun Martin and Rushaun Akers took first place with a time of 1:36.02.
The Carter Aquatic Center Marlins at North Cross competed in the 3-day Gamecock Invitational swim meet in Columbia, S.C.
More than 500 competitors from five states are participating. Jamie Trivett took first place in the girls' 11-12 50 butterfly with a time of 27.85 and 100 freestyle with a time of 56.51.
Tommy Rappold garnered first place finishes in the 200 intermediate, the 50 breast stroke, the 50 butterfly and the 200 intermediate. Rappold's time in the butterfly was a top 16 time in the nation.
