The Salvation Army's gift distribution to needy families, which starts today, is planned to run like clockwork. But the Roanoke Corps commander is worried that it may not turn out that way.
The army needs 100 volunteers an hour for 12 hours a day to distribute gifts between now and Friday, but Maj. Dan Delaney says too few people have signed up to help.
The army has set up a day and time for each of the 4,000 families to go to the Plaza of Roanoke-Salem to pick up their gifts. Volunteers take them through the center to select items.
