      Published correction ran on December 22, 1995.
         Some information was incorrect in the Christmas Closings box that 
      appeared in Thursday's paper. Roanoke County libraries will be closed 
      Sunday through Tuesday. There will be no trash collection on Christmas 
      Day in Roanoke County. Routes normally collected on Monday will be 
      collected on Tuesday; the rest of the routes will be on the normal 
      schedule, although there may be delays.

SCHOOLS

Roanoke: Closed Friday; will reopen Jan. 2.

Roanoke County: Early dismissal Friday, will reopen Jan. 2.

Salem: Two-hour-early dismissal Friday, will reopen Jan. 2.

Bedford: Closed today; will reopen Jan. 3.

Botetourt County: Closed today; will reopen Jan. 2.

Franklin County: Three-hour-early dismissal today; will reopen Jan. 2.

Virginia Western Community College: Closed; will reopen Jan. 2.

TRASH

Roanoke: No collection Christmas Day. Monday routes collected Tuesday; Tuesday routes collected Wednesday; Wednesday routes collected Thursday; Thursday routes collected Friday; Friday routes collected Saturday. Businesses normally served Tuesday and Friday will be collected Wednesday only.

In the downtown central business district, no collection on Christmas Day, but normal schedule rest of week.

Monday "A" recycling routes will be collected Tuesday; normal schedule rest of week.

Salem: No collection Christmas Day. Monday routes collected Tuesday; normal schedule rest of week.

Vinton: No collection Christmas Day. Monday and Tuesday routes collected Wednesday; Wednesday and Thursday routes collected Thursday; Friday routes on regular schedule.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Offices and courts: Closed Christmas Day.

Post offices: Retail windows closed

Christmas Day; no delivery of residential, business or rural mail. Special delivery and express mail will be delivered. Mail will not be delivered to post office boxes at stations and branches.

STATE GOVERNMENT

Offices: Closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday.

Virginia Employment Commission: Closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday.

Alcoholic Beverage Control: Offices closed Friday at noon, will reopen Wednesday. Stores closed Christmas Day only.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Roanoke: Offices closed Christmas Day. Libraries closed Saturday through Monday. No Valley Metro bus service Christmas Day.

Roanoke County: Offices closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday. Libraries closed Wednesday at 5 p.m., all day Thursday through Tuesday.

Salem: Offices closed Christmas Day. Libraries closed Saturday through Monday.

Vinton: Offices closed Christmas Day and Tuesday. Libraries closed Sunday through Tuesday.

Bedford: Offices closed Christmas Day and Tuesday. Libraries closed Friday through Monday.

Botetourt County: Offices and libraries closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday.

Franklin County: Offices closed Friday at noon; will reopen Wednesday. Libraries closed Saturday through Tuesday.
