Moving offices
CHRISTIANSBURG - Effective Monday, Jan. 15, The Rural Economic and Community Development will no longer have office hours in Floyd and Pearisburg. This change is part of an expense reduction effort.
RECD will serve the New River Valley from its office at 203 West Depot St. in Christiansburg. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 382-0257.
Sportsmanship award
Blacksburg High School's football team was awarded the 45th Sportsmanship Award by the Roanoke Civitan Club.
A panel of four chose Blacksburg according to such criteria as conduct of the players, coaches, school officials, fans, and cheerleaders.
Coach David Crist accepted the award on behalf of the team Dec. 11.
Showcasing RU
RADFORD - Radford University will hold a Radford Night for prospective students on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 7:30 p.m., in Heth Student Center.
"Prospective students will get one of the best looks at RU that we can pull together in one night. We roll out the red carpet to showcase the University," says assistant vice president of student services David Hill.
