Sterile Concepts announces deal
Sterile Concepts Holdings Inc. said Friday it will supply custom surgical procedure trays to VHA Inc. of Irving, Texas, a company that provides information and products to more than 1,300 health care organizations nationwide. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
VHA institutions purchase more than $190 million worth of custom procedure trays annually from several manufacturers, including more than $35 million worth from Sterile Concepts.
Sterile Concepts, based in Richmond, formerly was a unit of Carilion Health System of Roanoke. It is the second-largest provider of custom procedure trays to hospitals and surgery centers in the United States, with 2,300 customer accounts. The company reported revenue of $146.8 million for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30.

Hubbell Lighting Inc. said its photometric laboratory in Christiansburg has been accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program as the first to test five types of lighting fixtures. Seven bankruptcies with business affiliations have been filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Western Virginia at Roanoke. Three of them are personal bankruptcies that the court listed as businesses because they have commercial connections and could be of interest to business creditors and customers.
G.M.A. Distributing Inc. of Damascus, a bakery business, filed for liquidation. The company listed assets of $36,200 and liabilities of $67,632.
Barney and Dorothy Rosalia of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Roanoke County, filed for liquidation. They have an interest in Rose Land Development Partnership and Prestige Builders-Developers Inc., both of Roanoke. They listed assets of $184,635 and liabilities of $1,148,864.
Daniel Benjamin Thompson of Georgia and Catherine Thompson of Raven filed for liquidation, showing assets of $115,587 and liabilities of $172,043. They said they are in the farming business, and Daniel Thompson has an interest in Daniel Sales Co.
Rodney Keith Gaskins and Lisa Marie Reaves Hodge Gaskins of Radford filed for liquidation with assets of $51,199 and liabilities of $77,510. Rodney Gaskins operates Rodney Gaskins Contracting.
Mark Debusk of Abingdon filed for liquidation as a business but did not list a specific business. He did not provide estimates of assets and liabilities.
Richard David McNew and Terri Melissa McNew of Damascus filed for a wage earner plan for repayment of debts, listing assets of $11,230 and liabilities of $24,618. Richard McNew said he was self-employed but did not specify his business.
Francis Brennan and Phyllis Lorraine Brennan of Roanoke filed for a wage earner plan for repayment of debts with assets of $62,725 and liabilities of $64,708. Phyllis Brennan said she is a child-care provider.
