BEASLEY, Pearl Gray Sutphin, 79, of Roanoke, formerly of Radford, died Saturday, December 23, 1995. Arrangements by Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home, Radford.

BOCOCK, Jordan Bentley Jr., (``J.B""), 78, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Tuesday, December 19, 1995. Born in Pulaski February 22, 1917, he has resided in Fort Myers, Fla. for the past 40 years coming from Marion, where he was employed with Intermountain Telephone Company. He retired from United Telephone Company in 1980 after completing 33 years of telephone service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Myers, Fla., and served as Treasurer of the Sunday School for several years. A 57 year member of the Pulaski Elks Lodge #1067 and a member of the Caloosa Telephone Pioneers. He served in the U. S. Army Occupational Forces in Japan in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mable Eversole Bocock; twin brother, Martin H. Bocock Sr. and wife, Rachel of Wytheville; beloved niece, Ann Wilke; her children, Mark A. Wilke and wife, Cindy, their son, Nathan and Robin Wilke; five nieces, Mary Catherine Barnes, Teresa Headley, Celeste Duplaa, all of Cheverly, Md., Lisa Lacamera of Reston, Jane Hargis of Abingdon; nephews, Martin H. Bocock Jr. of Keswick, Jerry J. Lacamera of Fairfax Station. He was preceded in death by his father, Jordan B. Bocock Sr. and mother, Myrtle H. Bocock, sisters, Glenna Stella and Ruth Lacamera. Services were conducted by Anderson Funeral Home, 3654 Palm Beach Boulevard, Friday, December 22, 1995 in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Walter Edwards officiating. The family received friends at the church Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Local serv ices will be conducted at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski, Wednesday, December 27, 1995, at 2 p.m. Visitation is one hour before services. The Rev. Norman C. Wilhoit, Minister of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. CABBLER, Earnest William, (``Champ""), 66, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, December 21, 1995. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. During the 1950s, he was a professional boxer known as ``Champ Cabbler."" He is survived by his wife, Terry Cabbler; two sons, Anthony Cabbler and Christopher Cabbler; two sisters, Dorothy Basham and Lucy Banks; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Norris and Mary Lee Cabbler, Donald and Patricia Cabbler, James Cabbler and Alfred Cabbler; three grandchildren; other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel, with the Rev. Antonio Thomas officiating. Interment will be in the Cabbler Family Cemetery in Rustburg. CLOWER, Evelyn Oyler, 87, of Salem, and formerly of Floyd, passed away Friday, December 22, 1995, at the home of a daughter. She was a member of Falling Branch United Methodist Church and the Floyd Chapter of the DAR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard S. Clower, and a daughter, Janet Nester. Surviving are one son, Paul Clower of Roanoke; three daughters, Betty Moles of Salem, Phyllis Wilson of Mesquite, Texas, and Donna Welch of Grayson, Ga., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 1995, in Jacksonville Cemetery, with the Rev. Lawrence Nuckolls officiating. COX, Gladys Madeline, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 22, 1995. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Church, and retired school teacher, Roanoke City Schools. Survivors include a devoted niece, Alpha Showalter; devoted cousin, Lillie Myers, both of Roanoke; great-niece, Mary Angela Miller, Hollywood, Md.; a host of other relatives and friends. DAMERON, Willard, (``Bill""), 72, of Natural Bridge, departed this life on Saturday, December 23, 1995, after a lengthy battle with cancer. His entire family was at his bedside as he passed. Mr. Dameron was born June 7, 1922, at Shelbania, Ky., and was the son of the late Reese Dameron and Sarah Justice Dameron. Bill was a retired coal miner, a veteran of World War II, had served the Lord in ministering the Gospel to others for over 40 years in the Church of Christ, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Dameron of Natural Bridge; five daughters, Shirley Billiter of Vansant, Wanda Howard and Glenda Boone of Bartlett, Tenn., Kathy Hagerman of Cedar Bluff and Teresa Arrington of Hardy; three sons, Keith Dameron, Darold Dameron and Jerry Dameron of Natural Bridge; two sisters, Jackie Bevins of Regina, Ky., and Nannie Coleman of Pikeville, Ky.; two brothers, Irvin Dameron of Hanover Park, Ill., and Miles Dameron of Shelbania, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. DANIELS, James W., 86, of 54521 C.R. 445A, Astor Park, Fla., passed away Wednesday, December 20, 1995, in Eustis, Fla. Born in Brookneal, he moved to Astor Park from Roanoke in 1945. He was a retired electrician and plumber. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist. DERFLINGER, Nina Dillon, 95, passed away Saturday, December 23, 1995 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Ruth K. Derflinger, Radford; grandson, James W. Derflinger, Jr., Radford. HAYNES, Edward Rudolph, 72, of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 22, 1995, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 29, 1923 in Bedford County, a son of the late Herbert Hedley Haynes Sr. and Mary Gibbs Haynes. He wa self-employed in the heating and air-conditioning business, was a member of the Lynchburg Moose #1727, a veteran of World War II and a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hedley Haynes Jr. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Orange Haynes; three daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis Truxell, Buchanan, Patsy Williams, Lynchburg, Shirley and Jimmy Cundiff, Bedford; two brothers, Berkley Haynes, Bedford, Donald Haynes, Maryland; two sisters, Betty Seaman, Lynchburg, Frances Klinkenberg, Bedford; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 24, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the Timber Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Clayton Riggs. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. HODGES, Betty Hite, 75, of Buchanan, died Saturday, December 23, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde J. Hodges. She was a member of Lithia United Methodist Church. KESSINGER, Clarice Fain, 65, of Blacksburg, died Friday, December 22, 1995, in Roanoke Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Kessinger was a retired supervisor for Kmart Stores. Born at Parrott on March 27, 1930, she was the daughter of Stella Sifford Fain, who survives, and the late Raymond Emitt Fain. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Harold Richard Kessinger; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and John Cox of Blacksburg, and Pamela and Nathan Edmondson of Roanoke; a son, Gary Kessinger of Blacksburg; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Charlie Whitaker of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 1995, at Blacksburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Smith officiating. PULLIN, Gladys Basham, 91, of Roanoke, died Saturday, December 23, 1995. She was the widow of Clarence M. Pullin Sr. and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her son, Clarence M. Pullin Jr. of Roanoke, and sisters, Helen Plunkett, Ruth Lawhorne and Fern Porter of Roanoke and Dorothy Pullin of Maryland. RAMSEY, Elizabeth Gibbs 83, of 522 Westview Avenue, Bedford, died Friday, December 22, 1995, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Glenwood A. Ramsey. She was born in Bedford County on June 7, 1912, a daughter of the late Fletcher M. Gibbs and Estus Moss Gibbs. She was retired cafeteria manager of Bedford High School, and also retired from the gift shop in Peaks of Otter Lodge. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Senior Choir. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Vince Desmond of Lynchburg, and Marcia and Mac Nance of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Rachel Francis of Roanoke, and four grandchildren, Glen Desmond of Nashville, Tenn., Matt Desmond of Glen Allen, and Beth Nance and Becky Nance of Raleigh, N.C. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 24, 1995, in Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. D. Glen Langston and Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr. officiating. SIMPKINS, Rady Ralph, 83, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 22, 1995. He was retired from Singer Furniture Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Clydie Simpkins in 1993, and is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Woodrow and Roseann Simpkins of Roanoke, Earnie and Mary Simpkins of Dublin, and Troy Simpkins and fiancee Melva Meador of Roanoke; his daughters and son-in-law, Beulah Hiatt, and Jean and Mile Burwell of Roanoke; his sister, Nita L. Flinchum of Hiwassee; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel at 12 noon Tuesday, December 26, 1995, with the Rev. SMITH, Hollis Haywood, 81, of 5036 Woodbury Avenue, S.W., died Friday evening, December 22, 1995, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Smith was born June 9, 1914, in Alleghany County, the son of the late Aaron John and Rose Campbell Smith. He was a retired employee of Westvaco Corporation in Covington. Surviving are Estelle Fortune of Roanoke; three sons, Hollis H. Smith Jr. and James L. Smith of Covington and Harold Jeter Smith of Roanoke; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Sites of Lynchburg, Miss Barbara Sue Smith of Roanoke and Mrs. Gene (Jean) Autrey of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Edward C. Smith of Augusta, Ga., Dr. Oscar P. Smith of Kingsport, Tenn., and Henry P. Smith of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Odell) Hayslett of Covington and Mrs. Leslie (Phyllis) Jones of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home in Covington, with the Rev. William M. Cash officiating. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park. WILKERSON, Arthur Mayo, (``Otto""), 84, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 22, 1995. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Bobbitt, and a grandson, Lewis V. Bobbitt. Mr. Wilkerson was retired after 32 years of service with the VA Medical Center, Salem. He was a member and former deacon of Melrose Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Vera D. Wilkerson; daughters and son-in-law, Jerline (``Jackie"") Cronk of Roanoke, Bonnie and Ronald MacEwan of Roanoke; a sister, Elizabeth Tomlin of Madison Heights; grandchildren, Jeffery and Jane Cronk of Roanoke, and nieces and nephews.
