Heironimus plans liquidation sale

The downtown Heironimus department store likely will be closed by Jan. 20, Larry Drombetta, company president, said Tuesday.

The store will close Dec. 31 through Jan. 2 to prepare for a final liquidation sale. It will reopen at 7 a.m. Jan. 3. All merchandise will be marked down, Drombetta said. The sale will continue until all merchandise has been sold, which should be before Jan. 20, he said. An auction will be held later to sell fixtures and furniture.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based Dunlap Co., which bought S.H. Heironimus Inc. from local owners in 1993, said in early November the downtown store would not renew its lease on the building at Church Avenue and Jefferson Street.
