Perennial candidate Lyndon LaRouche filed for Delaware's Feb. 24 Democratic presidential primary Tuesday, and party leaders plan to draft an 85-year-old former governor to oppose him.
He is the only candidate in the primary. President Clinton has said he would forgo the Delaware race because of New Hampshire officials' objections to Delaware scheduling its primary less than a week after New Hampshire's.
In Delaware, Democratic officials have said they would draft former two-term governor Elbert Carvel, 85, to run in hopes of keeping LaRouche from gaining delegates to the Democratic National Convention next summer.
