Because of the limited funds of the Salem High PTSA Hospitality Committee, Chairwoman Lonna Carter and the other members thought that giving small, individual gifts to the teachers and staff of Salem High School would be insignificant.
So this year, the committee contributed to two charitable causes.
"We thought this would be a tribute to the teachers and staff, and also help somebody in the process," Carter said.
In addition to the Good Neighbors Fund, the committee contributed to the Lend A Hand program at Salem High. This program collects money to buy yearbooks for seniors who can't afford them.
