BURST PIPE CAUSES FLOODING OF CHRISTIANSBURG TOWN OFFICES

Water flooded offices in the town hall up to 2 to 3 inches when a pipe burst Saturday, Town Manager John Lemley said.

Carpet and ceiling tiles were damaged, but no records or files were lost, he said. Damages may amount to a few thousand dollars, and will be covered by insurance.

The pipe burst above the Town Council meeting room in the back of the building, and water stood 2 to 3 inches deep in Lemley's office, toward the front of the building, the town manager said.

The accident was caused by a coupling that failed, Lemley said.
