BROOME, Dorothy H., 93, of Salem, formerly of Fremont, N.C., died Tuesday, December 26, 1995 in a local hospital. She was a Nurse at Catawba Hospital and retired in 1964. She was preceded in death by husband, Lemuel R. Broome. The family members that survive include a son, Buck Broome, Salem; daughters, Betty Renshaw, Tacoma Park, Md., Barbara Bell and husband, George, Salem; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. FRANKLIN, William Ralph, 68, of Bassett, died Wednesday, December 27, 1995, i n the VA Medical Center, Salem. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy F. and Steve Brodie, Bassett, Natalie F. and Allan White, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Kristi Eanes, Casey Eanes, Johnathan Brodie, Jason White, Christopher White; his stepfather, Ralph Hodges, Martinsville; two sisters, Hazel Hancock, Rocky Mount; Polly Mattox, Martinsville; two brothers, Hooker Franklin, Rocky Mount, Claude Franklin, Martinsville; several nieces and nephews. GIBBS, Russell Rucker, 87, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 1995, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 6, 1908, in Bedford County, a son of the late Charlie Gibbs and Cora Chockle tt Gibbs. He was a retired employee of Hampton Looms and was a member of the Flint Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Fielder Gibbs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Donald A. Owen, Peggy Sue and Johnny DeLong, all of Bedford; two sisters, Janie Miller, Vinton, Thelma Thomasson, Baltimore, Md.; three grandchildren, Terry Lynn Owen, John W. DeLong, Tohny DeLong; two great-grandchildren, Ashley DeLong, Johnnie DeLong. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 29, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Wayne Murphy and the Rev. Richard Dooley. GRAHAM, Russell G., 78, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 27, 1995, in a Salem hospital. For many years, Mr. Graham was a member of Melrose United Meth odist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Electric. Surviving are his wife, Julia (``Cookie"") Graham; two daughters and one son-in-law, Twiligh A. Lawson, and Linda Jane and Robert Eugene Hall, all of Roanoke; one grandchild, Robert Scott Hall; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dovie and Deaner Tribbett of Roanoke and Iris Powers of Oxon Hill, Md.; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Donald and Janice Graham of Salem, Robert and Rebecca Graham of Roanoke, and Ernest and Elenora Graham of Botetourt County, also nieces and nephews, Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. HIGGINS, Junior Curtis, (``J. C.""), 67, of Rt. 1, Lexington, died Tuesday, December 26, 1995, at his residence. Born October 19, 1928, in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Robert G. Higgins and Vernia Knick Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a member of Kerrs Creek Baptist Church and was a retired line foreman for B.A.R.C. He was preceded in death by a son, Ellis Lee Higgins, and two brothers, Edward and Woodrow Higgins. Surviving are his wife, Bernice C. LOOPE, Alice Smith, of Lisbon, Iowa, formerly of Bluemont, Va., died Wednesday, December 27, 1995, of cancer in Clarence Nursing Home, Clarence, Iowa. She was born November 8, 1916, in Midville, Nova Scotia, to Edwin and Margaret Smith, and lived most of her life in Virginia. She married Lloyd Lee Loope on December 17, 1941, in Buchanan, Va. Mrs. Loope had a teaching career spanning 30 years at Fincastle High School and Clarke County High School in Berryville, Va. She taught English to seniors at Clarke County High School for 22 years. Besides her husband, survivors include her four children and their families, Lloyd, Jr., Makawao, Hawaii, Walter and wife Lora, Munising, Michigan, David and wife Cindy, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Amy White and husband, Jim, Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She also leaves nine grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Margaret Cochran and husband John, Moab, Utah; her brother, Frisby Smith and wife, Adelaide, Wytheville, Va.; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Smith, Coatesville, Pennsylvania; eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Smith. A private memorial service for the family will be held at Wheatland Lutheran Church, Buchanan, Va. Burial will be at Wheatland Cemetery. He was a lifelong member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church, a member of Boone Lodge No. 247 A.F.&A.M. and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was an employee of the Virginia Department of Forestry and served as Chief Forest Warden of Botetourt County. WEBSTER, Cecil Daniel, 81, of 11082 101 Avenue North, Seminole, Fla., died Monday, December 25, 1995, at his residence. He was a son of the late Ayres Shelton Webster Sr. and the late Kate Melton Webster. He left a career with the Roanoke Police in 1946 to become Chief of Security for Associate Transport, Inc. in Burlington, N.C., until his retirement in 1976. Moving to Florida from Burlington, N.C., he continued a lifelong association with the Loyal Order of the Moose, holding many offices, including Florida State Director and Executive Director and National Supreme Governor. At his death, he as Chairman of the Moosehaven Board of Governors and a member of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Lodge, member of the Masonic Lodge in Roanoke, Va. He was preceded in death by a son, C. Edward Webster. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beulah Ludwick Webster of the home; daughters, Mrs. Danielle Wilson of Rosamont, Calif., Mrs. Katherine Crouse of Burlington, N.C.; sister, Mrs. Juanita Jennings of Roanoke; brothers, A. Shelton Webster Jr., Leslie Webster, William Webster, all of Roanoke, Given Webster of Camden, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. WRIGHT, Carroll, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, December 27, 1995, at his home. Born October 25, 1903, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William Wallace Wright and Sallie Lucille Mattison, he is survived by three sons, Edward Barron Wright of Prince William County, Robert Mattison Wright of Fairfax, and Carroll Wright Jr. of Falls Church; a brother, William Wilson Wright of Arlington; two sisters, Elizabeth Wright Strother and Sallie Wright Simmons, both of Dadeville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two godchildren. A nationally recognized real estate consultant and appraiser, he was Realtor Emeritus and former director of the National Association of Realtors, twice selected to its honorary fraternity Omega Tau Rho. He was past president of the Virginia Association of Realtors, Charlottesville- Albemarle Association of Realtors and Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. A member of the American Institute of R eal Estate Appraisers and past president of its Washington, D.C. chapter, he was honored by the institute and designated Life Member. Being one of original cadre that formed the Third Armored Division, his World War II service took him to Africa and India, Burma and China in campaigns to open the Burma Road. He was recipient of the Bronze Star, commendation medal and Order of Yun Hui of China, and retired as Colonel of Armor U.S.A.R. He was past president of the Rotary Club of Arlington and former chairman of the County's Planning Commission. He was a former vice-president general of the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution, past president of its Virginia Society and of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter at Charlottesville. President Emeritus of the National Society of Americans of Royal Descent, he was also former governor of the Jamestowne Society, organizing governor of the Virginia Society of Founders and Patriots, and member of the Order of First Families of Massachusetts and Order of the Crown of Charlemagne. He was a 60-year member of Columbia Lodge #285 AF & AM, Arlington, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and charter member of Kena Shrine Temple. He was listed in the 40th edition of Marquis Who's Who in America. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 29, 1995, at Lee Funeral Home of Manassas, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas.
