TAKE A CAB TO THE AIRPORT NOTE: BELOW

With a record number of passengers expected at the Roanoke Regional Airport today, airport officials said passengers can expect traffic congestion and delay, both in the terminal and on the outside roadways.

Police will strictly enforce parking regulations in order to keep traffic moving in front of the terminal, airport officials said.

Fourteen Sugar Bowl-bound charter jets will depart the airport today, in addition to the airport's 52 regularly scheduled flights. The charters and airlines are expected to process in excess of 3,000 departing passengers.

Airport parking will be tight because of the high passenger demand and holiday demands. As an alternative, airport officials recommend passengers take a limousine or taxi to the airport or car pool.

After arriving at the terminal, passengers should be prepared for longer lines and more terminal congestion than normal. In addition, increased airline security levels require that all passengers be prepared to present a picture ID before boarding an aircraft.
