14-YEAR-OLD ACCIDENTALLY SHOT, KILLED

A 14-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Wytheville by another 14-year-old boy who was playing with a .22-caliber rifle.

Wytheville police are investigating the shooting to see if charges will be filed, but it is being called accidental at this point.

Police said the shooting occurred about 1:40 in an apartment. The boy who lived at the apartment was playing in his room with two other boys when he accidentally shot one in the arm and chest.

The juvenile who was shot was taken to Wythe County Community Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
