CANNADAY, Maude Stover, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday evening, December 30, 1995, at Richfield Nursing Center. She was the widow of Gerald W. Cannaday and a charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Cannaday was a retired employee of S. H. Heironimus Company, where she worked for 42 years. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gretchen Cannaday, and a sister, Dorothy Findlay, all of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Steve Cannaday of Augsburg, Germany, Sue Earhart of Richmond and Mike Cannaday of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepgrandchildren, Robert Wingfield Jr. of Ridgeway and Lou Ann Kleiman of Charlotte, N.C., and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Frank C. Preston and the Rev. Dr. George K. Bowers officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church (1831 Deyerle Road, Roanoke, Va. 24018) or a favorite charity. CRAWFORD, Robert Lee, 80, of 416 Avenel Avenue, Bedford, died Monday, January 1, 1996 in a Roanoke nursing home. He was born in Charleston, W.Va. on April 10, 1915, a son of the late Oral Noah Crawford and Mammie Booker Crawford. He was retired from Miles Southeastern Corp. and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Diana Shumate Crawford; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen C. and Edward B. Hopkins of Bedford; a grandson, Michael Shawn L. Cassidy, Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Marshall and Mae W. Shumate, McDowell, Va.; one niece and three nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m.. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Port Washington, N.Y. Mrs. Cruff was formerly a part time employee of Heironimus. Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth L. (``Betty'') Ikner, Roanoke; two grandsons, William M. Ikner and Timothy A. Ikner; sister, Jean Weyant, Windham, N.Y.; nephews, F. W. DISHON, Clayton Duane, 58, of Pulaski, passed away Sunday, December 31, 1995 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Pulaski County on December 29, 1937 to the late Thomas E. and Marie S . Dishon. Duane was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, having earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Vocational Agriculture Education. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He was an agriculture teacher for 27 years, teaching 12 years in Franklin County and 15 years in Pulaski County. He was a recipient of the American Farmer Degree and as a Future Farmer of America advisor, he had successfully coached many high school teams to the state and national levels in various competitions. Duane was a member of various professional teachers' organizations, including the Vocational Teacher's Organization. He was a Ruritan and had served the Newbern Ruritan Club as president and treasurer. Also, he was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski, where he had served as a deacon and chairperson of the Finance Committee. He is survived by his wife, Maxing Shelburne Dishon of Pulaski; a son, Clayton Duane Dishon Jr. of Pulaski; a brother and sister-in-law, Garnie F. and Fay Dishon of Radford; his mother-in-law, Edna Shelburne of Snowville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rodney T. and Nancy M. Shelburne of Snowville; an uncle, Eugene E. Stike of Radford; three nephews, Richard Dishon of Dublin, Brian and Todd Dishon, both of Radford. A service to celebrate Duane's life will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in Pulaski on Wednesday, January 3, 1996, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Burton and the Rev. Neil Wood officiating. Tributes to Duane will be given by Clay Dishon Ann Armbrister, John Bryant and Carl Lindstrom. Ushers at the church will be Claude Yelton and Bill Dalton. Music will be provided by Mont Quesenberry and Peggy Holden. Organist will be Suzanne Steele. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. He was a retired employee of Hercules, Inc., Radford, having 31 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army's Chemical Warfare Division. Born in Giles County on May 9, 1925, he was a son of the late Charlton and Mary Ann Lucas Price. Ted was retired from Poly-Scientific in Blacksburg, he was a farmer by choice and loved the land, and was a Jehovah's Witness. He was preceded in death by a son, James Albert Price. RICHARDS, Sherman Arthur, 80, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, December 31, 1995 at his home. Born in Floyd on September 2, 1915, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane Hall Richards. Mr. Richards was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, and a retired employee of VA Tech with 30 years service. He was a member of the Montgomery Moose Lodge #1470 in Christiansburg. TYNAN, Francis Mortimer, 77, of Springwood, died Sunday, December 31, 1995 after a bout with cancer. A native of Portsmouth, Va., Mr. Tynan was the son of the late Francis Christopher and Blanche Thrasher Tynan and was the brother of the late John T. Tynan of Portsmouth. A member of the V.F.W. # 993 of Portsmouth, Mr. Tynan was a veteran of WWII in the U. S. Army and participated in the Normandy Invasion. He was a retired employee of Fulton-White Truck Company in Roanoke after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Church of the Transfiguration in Fincastle. He resided on Rock Hill Farm in Botetourt County for nearly forty years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margarette J. Tynan; three daughters, Mary Tynan Kelly and Clara Louise Tynan, both of Springwood, Therese Ann Powell, Vershire, Vermont; one son, William Christopher Tynan and wife Sarah, Springwood; one stepdaughter, Rena B. Smith, Springwood; 11 grandchildren, Bambi L. Tynan, Brandon and Christine Tynan, all of Springwood, Flora, Helen, Sylvia, John, Douglas, Lillian and Rebecca Powell, all of Vershire, Vt.; one stepgranddaughter, Melissa S. Boyer, Exton, Pa. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 1996 at the Church of the Transfiguration, Fincastle. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan. WINEBARGER, Annie Dean, 89, of Marion, widow of Chauncey Winebarger, formerly of Route 3, Marion, died Sunday, December 31, 1995 in Ocoee Health Care Center in Ocoee, Florida. She is survived by one daughter, Mildred Winebarger of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Willis Winebarg er of Orlando, Fla. and Ronald J. Winebarger of Temperance, Michigan; one sister, Virginia Crowder of Madison, N.C.; three brothers, Rev. William Dean, Clinton Dean and Claude Dean, all of Marion, Va.; also surviving are grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 1995 at 1 p.m. in the Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. J. N. Howard officiating.
