The Associated Press erroneously reported Sunday that a form of measles may be killing blue whales in the Mediterranean.

The whales affected are in fact the balaenoptera physalus, known as the common rorqual or fin whale, of which about 3,000 live in the western Mediterranean, according to the magazine La Recherche.
