MEAL SERVICE HAS FUNDING

The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging said Friday that, on average, Virginia agencies that provide Meals on Wheels have enough funding to operate for another two weeks.

In Roanoke, the League of Older Americans Area Agency on Aging has enough funding to continue the home-delivered meal service for eight more weeks, said Kevin McCullough, the agency's director of public relations. The agency developed a contingency plan before the first government shutdown last year to provide funding to get through the budget impasse, he said.
