BRIGHT LIGHTS, BETTER BLACKSBURG

Christmas Day is now over. Many Blacksburg folks have directed their attention to New Orleans and other major events. I would like to focus on one minor event.

Everyone going to or through downtown during this season has thought how beautiful the lights on the trees are. In fact, the lights brighten up the area downtown in more ways than one.

When I told people I was moving to Blacksburg 17 years ago, several immediately said, "Oh, you mean Bleaksburg." Honestly, some of our winter days are a bit on the bleak side. But no one driving through downtown with the white lights on the trees will think bleak.

Why not leave the lights on until March? The white lights might brighten up our bleak days in January and February. Please, help make Blacksburg Brightsburg.
